Registration

Continuing, transfer, re-entry and special students can register for classes for each semester in PRISM uring scheduled dates/times. Check the academic calendar for specific dates. Enrollment Deposit

All students are required to pay a $100 Enrollment Deposit (sometimes also referred to as "ATD/Advance Tuition Deposit") prior to registration. The enrollment deposit is not a fee, but an advance payment applied to your tuition. The enrollment deposit is a financial commitment to pay tuition and fees.


Continuing Students

Academic Advising- Students should see an advisor to discuss progress toward the associate degree or transfer planning. Freshmen are required to have class schedules approved by their advisor prior to registering for their second semester.

Early Enrollment - Continuing degree-seeking students are given the opportunity to get the classes they want by registering during early enrollment. Based on credits earned, students are assigned an enrollment appointment in PRISM. This appointment is when each student is eligible to begin enrolling for a specific term.

Open Enrollment - All continuing students (degree-seeking and non-degree seeking) are eligible to enroll or make schedule changes during open enrollment in PRISM. No enrollment appointment is necessary.


New Freshmen 

Placement Tests / Advising & Registration / Orientation - Students will receive information and reservation forms in the mail.


Transfer and Re-entry Students

Placement tests - Students may be required to take UW System English and/or math placement tests.

Academic Advising - Transfer students have the option to meet with an advisor before registering or attend a Transfer Transition Session (highly encouraged).

Early Enrollment - Transfer students who have been admitted and re-entry students may register during early enrollment. Based on credits earned, students are assigned an enrollment appointment in PRISM.

Open Enrollment - Transfer and re-entry students are eligible to enroll or make schedule changes during open enrollment; appointments are not necessary.


Special Students

Open Enrollment - Non-degree and special students are eligible to enroll or make schedule changes during open enrollment. No enrollment appointment times are necessary.

Auditors & Senior Citizen Auditors

Faculty permission is required to audit a course. Students wishing to audit a course must submit a signed permission form to Student Services to enroll, beginning on the first day of classes for each semester. 
 

Schedule Changes

  • If you register for a course and never attend, or if you just stop attending classes, you may be liable for tuition, late payment penalties and you will receive a failing grade (F) for the course. It is better to attend classes or withdawal before the withdrawal deadline.  
 
  • NO SHOW Policy - If you do not attend the first and second class sessions and have not contacted your instructor by e-mail, phone or mail, you will be dropped from the course. For classes that meet only once a week, you will be dropped from the course if you do not attend the first class session and do not contact your instructor. If you do not attend any of your first and second class sessions, you will be withdrawn from UW-Waukesha and will forfeit your $100 Enrollment Deposit. 
 
  • Adding a Course - Students may add a course(s) in PRISM before a semester begins or during the first two weeks of the semester or a proportionate time for shorter classes. A permission number from the instructor is required to add a course in after the semester has begun.

  • Additional Tuition - Adding courses after the deadline may result in additional tuition. If you have questions, please contact the Business Services at (262) 521-5441.
 
  • Dropping A Course - Students may drop a course(s) in PRISM during the first ten weeks of a semester, and a proportionate time for shorter courses. Instructors' permission is not required to drop a class. Students who wish to drop all their courses or the only course(s) they are taking should complete procedures for withdrawal from the university (see below).
 
  • Withdrawal from the University - Students may withdraw from all classes by the withdrawal date through  PRISM, by submitting a completed university  Withdrawal Form to Enrollment Services, sending a signed letter requesting withdrawal from the university, or FAX (262) 521-5530. The withdrawal will be effective the date the letter is postmarked or FAX received. We accept e-mail withdrawals from the UW Colleges student e-mail accounts. Faculty signatures are not required. Check the UW-Waukesha academic calendar for specific dates and times.
 
  • Refunds- Students who withdraw or drop courses and have a question about whether they will receive a refund for their tuition should contact the Business Services at (262) 521-5441.
