Essay Assignment 1:  My Best (or Worst) Job Ever

Two-page, typed, double-spaced personal essay due Thursday, September 4th

Consider the following questions:

What was a typical day at your job like?

What kind of insider information did you learn?

How would you describe the personality of your boss?

How did you get along with your coworkers?  Describe them.

How did customers/clients treat you?

Would you recommend this job to a friend? 

Did you learn any life lessons?

These are only a few questions to get you to start critically thinking about a past or present job.  You do not have to answer every one of these questions; for that matter, you don’t have to answer any of these questions if there is something more compelling to describe about your job. 

Please focus on what seems most poignant and important to encapsulate a portrait of your job in only two pages. 

If you have held many interesting jobs, write about the job that speaks to you the most.  In the interest of space, include only the most concrete, specific, and telling details and anecdotes.
