WAUKESHA – New freshmen, continuing, transferring and returning adult students may be eligible for one or more of the approximately 35 funded scholarships for University of Wisconsin-Waukesha students in 2000-2001. Nearly $37,000 was awarded to students through the endowed program in1999-2000. "One of the purposes of the Friends & Alumni Scholarship Program is to recognize the diverse talents of UW-Waukesha students, their academic accomplishments and the contributions to school and community," said Judy Becker, financial aid and scholarship coordinator. Selection is based on both academic and non-academic achievement and other criteria set by scholarship donors. In addition, talent awards in art, music, and theater, and minority incentive grants are available for qualifying students. March 10 is the application deadline, with notification of awards to be made by May 15, 2000. For more information about the program or specific scholarships or grants, or to receive an application form, contact the Student Services office at (262) 521-5200.
