Coach Scores 300th Victory
| WAUKESHA - Last week Neal Nelson recorded his 300th career victory as head basketball coach at the University of Wisconsin-Waukesha. He reached the milestone on February 17, in Nelson’s 17th year as men’s basketball coach, when the UW-Waukesha Cougars defeated UW-Fond du Lac, 86-61.
The Cougars have suffered only 134 losses under Nelson, giving him a 69 percent winning record. His teams have won six conference titles and one Wisconsin Junior College state championship.A native of Dodgeville, WI, Nelson is an associate professor of physical education. He has been teaching and coaching at UW-Waukesha since 1983. In 1996 he was promoted to athletic director for the campus. He also coaches tennis and golf.
Nelson, his wife, Kari, and their two daughters live in Waukesha.
