WAUKESHA Matt Miller, a senior at UW-Whitewater majoring in music and concentrating on classical guitar, will perform in concert at the University of Wisconsin-Waukesha on Friday, February 27. UW-Waukesha alumnus Tom Parker, on acoustic guitar, and drummer Pete Nystead will open for him at 7:30 p.m. in the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre, located in the Fine Arts Center at 1500 N. University Dr., Waukesha. Admission is $5, and the public is welcome.
Miller earned his associate degree from UW-Marinette in his hometown and transferred to UW-Whitewater to complete his bachelors degree. While he has been playing guitar for 18 years, it was under the guidance of George Lindquist, a music professor at UW-Whitewater, that he changed his focus to classical guitar. Miller, who proposes to tour the campuses of the UW Colleges this spring to present concerts and encourage students, will be continuing his education after he graduates in May. He plans to attend both UW-Milwaukee and the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music, from which he hopes to earn a second bachelors degree, in anthropology, and a masters degree in ethnomusicology, respectively.
Miller will be on the UW-Waukesha campus during the day February 27 and will meet with students and speak to music classes.
