WAUKESHA The University of Wisconsin-Waukesha Symphonic Band, Jazz Ensemble, Trumpet Quartet, and Handbell Choir will present the annual spring concert Saturday, May 1, at 7:30 p.m. in the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre, located in the Fine Arts Center on campus at 1500 N. University Dr., Waukesha. Admission is free, and the public is invited.
The program opens with a performance by the Trumpet Quartet, followed by the Jazz Ensemble doing Coltrane, Hancock, Golson, and Porter, and the Handbell Choir performing works by Purcell, Lloyd, Kinyon, and Susato. After a short intermission, the Symphonic Band will take the stage, presenting some Americana, flutes, and more and concluding with a march, Thundering Steel, by Charles Booker Jr. Associate professor of music Craig Hurst directs the bands, and music lecturer Nancy Van Brunt leads the handbells.
Instrumentalists include students, two faculty, and members of the community.
