Students Honored for Achievements at UW-Waukesha

WAUKESHA – University of Wisconsin-Waukesha academic departments recognized the work of three students this year, conferring departmental honors at the Honors & Degree ceremony Thursday, May 22. Additionally, nine students received achievement awards for their extracurricular efforts.

Faculty within a department may nominate students to honor for academic work that has been truly outstanding in that discipline.  These awards are bestowed only when individual departments so designate; therefore, not every department gives honors each year.

Students receiving departmental honors this spring were:

Education:                   Todd Hoitink, Port Washington

English:                       Alyse Below,  Waukesha

Philosophy:                 Mark Heidenreich, East Troy

Students who received awards for achievements that significantly contributed to student life were:

African American Union:  Angela Russell, Waukesha

Future Educators Club: Alysha Meacham, West Allis

New Horizons: Gabrielle Graf, Pewaukee

OLLA:  Malia Baldry, Waukesha

Orientation Leaders: Kristin Garvens, Menomonee Falls; Gabrielle Graf, Pewaukee; Matthew Pritchard, Waukesha; Angela Russell, Waukesha   

Pre-College Counselor:  Angela Russell, Waukesha

Student Activities (ACT):  Angela Russell, Waukesha

Student Government: Michael Robinson, Waukesha

Yoga Club:  Curtis Dartsch, Brookfield; Gabrielle Graf, Pewaukee; Maria Sabljak, Waukesha

Sixteen members of Phi Theta Kappa, the national honor society for two-year colleges, completed their Associate Degrees.
