ALL students, including financial aid applicants, are responsible for ensuring their fees are paid by tuition deadlines, or make payment arrangements before the deadlines.

Applying for Financial Aid

The Financial Aid Timeline

Apply
  1. Go online to http://www.fafsa.ed.gov or fill out a paper version of the FASFA
  2. UW-Waukesha school code 003897
  3. Apply before the April 15th priority deadline to secure the most money possible
Student Aid Report (SAR)
  1. If you completed the application via the Internet or by mail, and provided your e-mail address, you will receive in approximately 48-72 hours a notice that your Student Aid Report is available online.
  2. If no E-mail address is provided, and no corrections need to be made, no Student Aid Report will be sent.
***Some students may be selected for verification.***

What does this mean? The Federal government is checking to make sure the financial information you supplied is accurate

  1. Complete the Verification Worksheet that will be mailed to you if selected.
  2. Students and parents need to supply signed copies of their federal tax forms and W-2's.
  3. If not completed an award offer will not be generated.
An Award Offer will be generated

You should receive this approximately 4 weeks after turning in all of your paperwork.

Return one copy of your signed award offer to the Student Services Office. Make sure you accept or decline the financial aid being offered to you and sign/date the back of the award letter.
***There may be additional steps to do with some types of financial aid***
  1. If this is your first semester taking a loan, you will need to complete your Master Promissory Note and Loan Entrance Counseling online at http://uwc.cfmxdev.uwex.edu/financial-aid/loans/entrance/.
  2. If you accept work study and will be working on campus, you will need to complete a UW-Waukesha employment application and then if hired you will need to complete additional information.

Scholarships

The University of Wisconsin-Waukesha Foundation, Inc. sponsors scholarships each year for UW-Waukesha students. The program is designed to give encouragement and financial assistance to students. There are a wide range of scholarships available.  Some are designated for students in particular areas of study, including, but not limited to, health care, natural science, education, and engineering. Scholarships are also available for single parents and for adults returning to school.

Requirements for Scholarships

  • New students must have a minimum ACT score of 19 or higher or a 2.5 GPA.
  • Continuing students must have earned at least 12 credits and have the minimum of a 2.25 GPA.
  • All applicants must demonstrate leadership, initiative, critical thinking, maturity, and potential to contribute to society.
  • Please note that financial need is not a requirement to be considered for scholarships.

"How Do I Apply?"

  •  Complete the scholarship application; with typed responses to questions 1-5 on separate paper (be sure to sign where indicated on page 2). Do not use staples or paper clips.
  • Submit the two enclosed letters of recommendation (from non-relatives). One must be from a teacher or a professor. For schools using form letters, only one will be accepted.
  • High school seniors must have their guidance counselors complete the shaded area on page 1.
  • All application materials and letters of recommendation need to be submitted or postmarked no later than 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 31, 2010 to:

Judging is based on academic achievement, demonstrated leadership and service, recommendation letters, and requirements cited by scholarship donors. You will be notified of results in May, 2009. Half of the scholarship is given each semester, unless otherwise specified. Your award letter will let you know what you must do in order to receive the scholarship.
